Bungalows built in the 1920s have a certain charm to them but lack many of the conveniences of modern homes. The owners of a Lexington bungalow came to Feinmann looking to build a better version of their dark kitchen and dining room. By taking down the wall between the two spaces, moving the half bath and strategically adding several new double-hung windows, this bungalow got a much-needed boost. The space is brighter and inviting, plus offers views of the backyard, which will become all the more important as their family expands. A new backdoor and mudroom area and half bath are connected to the kitchen. The first floor flows much better since creating the new layout.
The upper cabinets are white while the lower cabinet drawers are cherry. The perimeter counter surface and island are Atlantic Salt by Caesar Stone. Pendant lighting hangs over the island and a pendant chandelier centers the eating area. The result is a refreshing, rejuvenated kitchen that delights with light.
Another piece of the bungalow improvement plan was to update the master bathroom. Plumbing for a washer-dryer that was never used was taking up precious real estate in the bathroom. By slightly reconfiguring the space, additional storage was created. The upgraded shower has two types of glass tile, glass tile walls and a statement shower door of textured glass that resembles cascading water, a relaxing image. The door provides privacy as well as giving the impression that the ceiling is higher than it actually is. Hickory wood cabinetry was used for the vanity and linen closet. The floor tile is grayish-green by Porcelanosa and the shower floor tile is a mosaic of arrows in gray and white. The vanity surface is Desert Limestone by Caesar Stone and the walls are Benjamin Moore Bali #702.

We love our new space! We decided to move out while the work was being done (kitchen, mudroom area, powder room, and master bath). We have dogs and I have dust allergies so it was easier for us. Feinmann stayed on budget and let us know our options. We decided to spend a little more in certain areas, but there were no budget surprises. …Feinmann was very responsive and any small thing was addressed in a timely manner.

Learn About Design-Build- Bebe NixonPlease tell Chris Gonzalez that both Nick and I are very grateful for his thoughtful guidance during our two renovations with your company. He was a very very good teacher, patient and kind and obviously skilled. Please let him know how much we continue to appreciate what he taught us.
- Royal Revival ProjectWe had an excellent experience with everyone at Feinmann. Our project manager was responsive and kept communication clear throughout. The head carpenter was a pleasure to work with, and our designer/architect brought great talent and vision to the project. We highly recommend hiring them without hesitation.
- Cambridge, MAWe loved having entire Feinmann team in our home and appreciated them treating it like it was their own. The work they did is all over-the-top gorgeous. They coached us to select products and finishes that will last a lifetime (and through our toddler), and the craftsmanship with which it was all executed certainly will hold up to time. I admire daily the integration of existing and new, and regret only that in time I’ll likely forget which is which. Feinmann is masterful at what they do. I really can’t say enough nice things about them, and their work.
