The majority of contemporary homes boast a luxury master bath. The owners of an eclectic-style Lexington home sought to reconfigure their upstairs to provide space for a master bath and to provide them with privacy as the house only had one second-floor bathroom.
The solution entailed enclosing an awkward two-story atrium foyer which allowed the upstairs rooms to shift. This provided a way to expand the master bedroom to include a new walk-in closet while incorporating the old closet into a new, spacious master bathroom.
Highlights of the bathroom include a generous walk-in shower with frameless glass doors and Silk Blanco tiles, which anchors one end of the space. The floor tile and additional shower tile is Chester Leno. A double sink vanity features Delicatus granite which is also used for the shower bench. There is plenty of storage with the Greenfield cabinetry vanity. A toilet alcove anchors the other end of the master bath. It features a fabulous mosaic tile wall (Elite Square Ariana 1″x1″). Another design element of this master bath is that the tile is inset and flush with the wall, creating a sleek profile throughout.
Among the challenges encountered in this project were enclosing the foyer atrium and reconfiguring the second floor to provide space for the new master bath. Another challenge was providing new mechanical and plumbing for the master bath without disrupting the first floor.
The key to the success of this project was eliminating the two-story foyer with a beautiful batten board ceiling treatment and creating more square footage on the second floor. The homeowners acquired the privacy they asked for with a swank master bathroom.

The Feinmann team designed and renovated the second floor of our house which included adding in a new bathroom and re-configuring and updating the master bedroom and master bathroom. The Feinmann team on our project (Peter Feinmann, Kyle Dube, Steve Dumas, Elvin Zayas-Lai, Barney Maier and Tom Harden) was very professional. They designed the upper floor based on our requirements. They had very creative solutions to issues that arose during the design phase. The quality of their work is excellent and we were able to completely transform our upper level. The project was completed with minimal delays. Lastly, the project was being done while we were living in the house with our 7-year-old son. The team ensured they got the work done with minimal inconvenience to us. I will definitely use them for future projects in our house.

He was a very very good teacher, patient and kind and obviously skilled. Please let him know how much we continue to appreciate what he taught us.
- Royal Revival ProjectWe had an excellent experience with everyone at Feinmann. Our project manager was responsive and kept communication clear throughout. The head carpenter was a pleasure to work with, and our designer/architect brought great talent and vision to the project. We highly recommend hiring them without hesitation.
- Cambridge, MAWe loved having entire Feinmann team in our home and appreciated them treating it like it was their own. The work they did is all over-the-top gorgeous. They coached us to select products and finishes that will last a lifetime (and through our toddler), and the craftsmanship with which it was all executed certainly will hold up to time. I admire daily the integration of existing and new, and regret only that in time I’ll likely forget which is which. Feinmann is masterful at what they do. I really can’t say enough nice things about them, and their work.
