After reconfiguring and remodeling the homeowners second floor in the Winter of 2009/2010, Feinmann was asked to return and create larger kitchen with an open dining area to entertain guests, as well as add a new half bathroom since they only had one upstairs. Specifically, must haves included ample counter space, more light, and an open space with much more function for the family of four in Arlington, MA.
The once disjointed kitchen and dining room was transformed by removing the wall that once separated the kitchen from the dining room and the dining room from the sunroom. This allowed us to create a much more functional kitchen and dining area that worked cohesively. In addition, by removing the sunroom wall, we were able to access an entire wall of windows that allowed for light and new energy to the space. In addition, the design of kitchen was driven by placement of the half bathroom behind the galley kitchen.
The new kitchen and dining area feature ample storage with large exterior wall of European cabinets with flat-center-panel doors with a reverse-raised solid hardwood center panel by Showplace painted in Oyster. The interior wall of Natural Maple cabinets is accented by a stunning red wall. The generous counter that now allows for cooks and kids is done in Caesarstone, Misty Carrera, a quartz color that resembles marble. The backsplash is done in Ice White Roma Tiles in 3×6 keeping the space light and airy. Keeping the integrity of the original oak flooring, we perfectly matched them to the old sunroom area that is now the dining room.
The other major solution we delivered was opening-up the living room and study. We did this by moving the living room door to extend the fireplace wall. This allowed us to add a tv incorporate more centered furnishing.
Feinmann was both responsive to our questions and concerns. In addition, they helped us figure out we had some room behind a wall to keep the TV and network cables and such hidden away, which gave us a much cleaner look around the TV. That was a great idea! We appreciated them providing advice way after the design phase.

- Royal Revival ProjectWe had an excellent experience with everyone at Feinmann. Our project manager was responsive and kept communication clear throughout. The head carpenter was a pleasure to work with, and our designer/architect brought great talent and vision to the project. We highly recommend hiring them without hesitation.
- Cambridge, MAWe loved having entire Feinmann team in our home and appreciated them treating it like it was their own. The work they did is all over-the-top gorgeous. They coached us to select products and finishes that will last a lifetime (and through our toddler), and the craftsmanship with which it was all executed certainly will hold up to time. I admire daily the integration of existing and new, and regret only that in time I’ll likely forget which is which. Feinmann is masterful at what they do. I really can’t say enough nice things about them, and their work.
