Refined Treasure

Feinmann remodeled the kitchen and master bathroom in this classic brick townhouse in Brookline, MA. The homeowner’s goals were to modernize their kitchen while retaining their stunning, more traditional stacked molding.

The Kitchen

The kitchen has a contemporary feel, an abundance of natural light, and clean lines. It features custom maple cabinets painted white built by North American Cabinets. Their cabinet system includes a glass display around the perimeter near the ceiling. This design element draws the eyes towards the stacked molding that seamlessly integrates with the space. In the middle of the kitchen, there is an island that seats three. We finished its countertop with black walnut while using a darker finish for the perimeter. The difference in the colors creates an excellent contrast. Feinmann strategically added display shelving above the stove and next to the refrigerator. This storage area allowed the client to tuck away their coffee maker and other smaller appliances safely. Also, it left them more counter space for cooking and preparing meals. In addition, we used a white ceramic stone for the backsplash to brighten up this space.

The Master Bathroom

The master bathroom delivers a modern space with depth, warmth, and luxury. Feinmann accomplished this by integrating the following design elements:

• Installed several types of marble tile in the shower that vary in size and decor.
• Chose a free-standing double vanity by LaCava finished in Smoky Walnut.
• Decorated the room with a damask patterned wallpaper, which adds a modern twist.
