Feinmann transformed this Royal Barry Wills Colonial Revival in Lincoln, MA into a modern family retreat. Nestled in a wooded setting, the home offers expansive views of conservation land and farmland. The layout no longer met the needs of the young family, who wanted better flow, modern amenities, and visibility throughout.
We completely reimagined the first floor while honoring the home’s architectural roots. Walls came down to open up the space. We introduced a chef’s kitchen with a walnut island, Studio Green cabinetry, and Carrera marble surfaces. A new bar and den provide stylish, functional escapes. The dining room now features a bay window alcove and custom seating.
To enhance connectivity, we added a twelve foot sliding glass door and large windows in the living room. A new wraparound deck, elevated fifteen feet above the ground, extends living outdoors without changing the footprint. Custom cabinetry, white oak floors, and thoughtful trim unify old and new.
Despite terrain challenges and historical constraints, the result is a light-filled, modern home that supports family life and entertainment, while preserving Royal Barry Wills’ timeless charm.
A walnut island anchors the kitchen, creating a central gathering space with inviting lighting and design details.
Specialty cabinets and a granite shelf behind the range keep cooking essentials organized and within reach.
Studio Green cabinetry and Carrera marble counters create a bold, elegant kitchen with outdoor-facing views.
Custom millwork conceals appliances and connects the kitchen to the bar and den with a seamless look.
The bar area features walnut cabinetry, glass fronts, and a hammered sink, blending utility and charm.
A matte-black den with a fireplace and art-mode TV offers a dramatic yet cozy escape.
Twin arches, built-ins, and a soapstone fireplace create a sophisticated focal point in the sitting area.
A 15-foot-high deck expands outdoor living space while preserving panoramic views with cable railings.
We had an excellent experience with everyone at Feinmann. Our project manager was responsive and kept communication clear throughout. The head carpenter was a pleasure to work with, and our designer/architect brought great talent and vision to the project. We highly recommend hiring them without hesitation.

Learn About Design-Build- Bebe NixonPlease tell Chris Gonzalez that both Nick and I are very grateful for his thoughtful guidance during our two renovations with your company. He was a very very good teacher, patient and kind and obviously skilled. Please let him know how much we continue to appreciate what he taught us.

- Cambridge, MAWe loved having entire Feinmann team in our home and appreciated them treating it like it was their own. The work they did is all over-the-top gorgeous. They coached us to select products and finishes that will last a lifetime (and through our toddler), and the craftsmanship with which it was all executed certainly will hold up to time. I admire daily the integration of existing and new, and regret only that in time I’ll likely forget which is which. Feinmann is masterful at what they do. I really can’t say enough nice things about them, and their work.
