Lexington Master Bath Storyline

A roomy state-of-the-art steam shower, Sonos sound system and custom double-sink vanity have turned this Lexington master bathroom into one of the most enticing rooms in the house. When the owners of a 1990s Colonial Style home asked Feinmann to update their master bathroom, they sought a sophisticated design that would incorporate a shower, two sinks, toilet and storage.

The original space lacked coherence with a Jacuzzi tub taking up most of the floor space. The two sinks were separated by a small shower stall. The chopped up elements of the old bathroom challenged the Feinmann design/build team to come up with a cohesive and graceful architectural solution. By relocating the bathroom entry and taking space from the adjacent closet, the new layout provided for a generous shower and toilet alcove opposite a wall of rich cherry wood cabinetry stained a deep coffee color for storage and the double vanities. The floor tiles are ceramic made to resemble travertine stone, Ferroker Titanio (17”x 26”), adding to the overall warmth of the master bath.

The ThermoSol® steam shower became the featured element of the renovated master bathroom. The built-in cabinet in the toilet alcove houses the steam unit. The sizable 5’x6’ shower is tiled in Naxos Skyline and contains a built-in bench made from La Dolce Vita quartzite. Music can be played throughout the house through Sonos.

The principle organizing architectural element in the bathroom is the dropped soffit that runs along three sides of the room, including across the top of the shower and toilet alcove, and on the vanity wall that gives the storage unit a more finished look. Polished chrome Liberty Hardware pulls are simple and tasteful. Each sink on either side of the storage unit has a furniture base and La Dolce Vita quartzite surface. Mirrors made to match complete the harmonious and elegant style of the master bathroom.
