As part of Feinmann’s ongoing commitment to “doing good while doing well,” we have joined forces with COMPASS for kids on a backpack donation drive. These backpacks are for the homeless parents enrolling in COMPASS job training or college classes through their COMPASS Community Collaborative (CCC). We want to extend this opportunity to all of our clients, former clients and readers to participate in a worthy cause.
Our goal is to provide 30 ADULT backpacks and the supplies on this list. Each backpack needs to contain the following items:
- 1.5″ 3 ring binder, any color
- Loose sheet notebook paper, 1-2 reams
- 7″x 5″ spiral notebook
- Set of highlighters
- 4 GB flash drive
- Pens – Feinmann will provide
- Set of 5 tab dividers for 3 ring binder
COMPASS supplies 30 backpacks every two months to their COMPASS Community Collaborative (CCC) program participants. CCC provides homeless parents with full-time job training and job placement that includes: work readiness bootcamp, college classes, paid internships, workforce skills training, long-term coaching and other support strategies. Through deep cross-sector community partnerships, they connect participants with the broad resources that homeless families need to navigate toward self-sufficiency and a brighter future.
We’re hoping to score a homerun with this drive and make it a regular practice as part of our ongoing support for COMPASSforkids.org. We will be collection these items at our office at 27 Muzzey Street now through February 13, 2014. Please contact Cheryl Savit, Marketing & PR Coordinator at 781-860-9800 ext. 15 with any questions.
About Feinmann and COMPASSforkids.org
Having sat on the Board of Directors for the organization, Peter has had a close association with this charity for several years. He says:”I support COMPASS for kids – and especially their COMPASS for kids homeless families programs. When we renovate people’s kitchens, living spaces and bathrooms, I understand that we are all quite fortunate to have the resources to make our homes comfortable and beautiful. But many people are not in the same position.
“That is why I am asking you to join me in supporting COMPASS for kids. COMPASS relies on all of us to change the future for homeless families and effectively eliminate family homelessness in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 2013, in a well established country, in a state know for education and innovation, there is not reason for close to 10,000 children to be living in shelters and motels every day – homeless.
“I know COMPASS well enough to say that are working toward permanent solutions to family homelessness. Their collaborations and partnerships are working. And they rely on all of us – individuals, businesses and organizations – to keep on getting great results. These successes point the way to brighter futures for entire families.”
New Directions Sponsorship
Feinmann, Inc. was proud to once again be a sponsor at the annual New Directions for homeless families luncheon. This year’s theme “Investing in Solutions to Social Problems: Cross Sector Collaboration for Social Change” recognized Beacons for homeless families awardees Jonathan Issacson and Yolanda Taylor. Governor-elect Charlie Baker gave the keynote address and celebrated his birthday with a cake replica of the State House. A recent graduate of CCC program spoke as well. The event was co-chaired by David Ilsley and Mike Kennealy, long-time COMPASS supporters.
