Feinmann Receives Highest Honors – NARI National CotY Award for Residential Kitchen in Boston

Feinmann was recently awarded the NARI National CotY Award for Residential Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000, for the Boston condo located at Commonwealth Ave. in Boston, MA. This award is presented annually to 40 members who have demonstrated exceptional work throughout their remodeling projects, and dedication and commitment to “Remodeling Done Right” which is NARI’s promise and tagline. An impartial panel of judges, who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, the degree of difficulty and entry presentation.

“We are truly honored to receive this award. Truthfully, the credit goes to our amazing team of in-house architects, designers, and builders who creatively delivered a solution that spoke to the needs of the client and how they use the space. Saying this project was transformational is an understatement”, said Peter Feinmann, President of Feinmann and Board Member of EM NARI.

Feinmann wins 2018 Regional CotY Award

We’re excited to announce that Feinmann was recently named a 2018 Regional CotY winner. Presented by NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) Feinmann was selected as a Region 1 Northeast winner for Residential Kitchen remodels ranging between $100,001 and $150,000.

Out of 400 entries, the CotY (Contractor of the Year) award was granted to Feinmann for our work on a Boston condo kitchen remodel at Commonwealth Avenue.

Implementing white lacquer cabinets, Caesarstone countertops and herringbone laid tile, the judges were impressed with Feinmann’s complete transformation of this modern, streamlined space — which also won a 2017 Gold PRISM Award for Best Kitchen Remodel.

“We are really proud that this project has been recognized by the Remodeling Industry.  Our Design and Production Teams worked so well together to create this wonderful project.”

Sneak Peek: A Lexington Renovation “Unboxes” Previous Additions

Our clients were moving from out-of-state to a house in Lexington that had two previous ill-conceived remodeling projects, adding square footage but creating disjointed spaces. The most recent addition was a rustic sunroom abutting the backyard pool area. The rooms were stacked up like boxes, one behind the other.

The goal was to create a floor plan that graciously created a natural flow between the spaces, including an enlarged kitchen, eating area and family room. The husband likes to cook so a good work triangle was a priority. To accomplish the project goals, the Feinmann design team removed the wall between the existing kitchen and family room; and the wall between the family room and sunroom. Read more…

Feinmann Architect in the Land of the Rising Sun

Our guest blogger is Feinmann senior architect Barney Maier. This past summer he traveled to Japan.

Whether by intent or coincidence, the modern aesthetic, particularly related to kitchens, increasingly resemble the Japanese aesthetic. As exemplified by so many projects featured in home design magazines, interior design is moving towards a refined, uncluttered, clean and simple elegance that is the hallmark of Japanese design. In the past, I have had an opportunity to incorporate elements of Japanese architecture into projects I have designed. This trip allowed me to experience the “pure” form of the Japanese origins of those features. Those elements include the following: Read more…
